Seeding the music libraries.

Over the last few years I, probably like most, have gotten overwhelmed with uploading music to the various libraries as well as tagging and writing descriptions for each piece. Every library’s requirements and procedures are different which only adds to an already time consuming process.

Initially the tendency was to get as much music out in the marketplace, to as many libraries as possible. It did get a bit crazy though and the end result would be that many times it wouldn’t get done. I finally came up with a routine that makes it all much less frantic.

I now only work with 5 or 6 libraries so I assign each one to a day of the week and only upload one song, per week, to each library. That gives me plenty of time to focus on that one piece of music and give it my best effort as it pertains to each library’s requirements. A much more relaxed way to do it, at least for me. I feel I have a few more years left in me so I’m in no rush and it leaves me plenty of time to write and have a life!

How about you? What’s your routine?

This topic sprouted up on another thread but I think it deserves it’s own post.

The more accurate the description, keywords, genres, etc one uses to describe a song, can only increase it’s chance of being returned in a search of a music library’s site. Any tips and ideas anyone would care to share?

Earn $400-$500 per song. Create new versions of old hits.

John Fulford, one of our readers at www.musiclibraryreport.com, would like to hire someone to re-produce old hit songs in new and inventive ways. John is willing to pay $400-$500 per song, 1/2 upfront.

He would need vocal mixes along with an instrumental mix. You should be aware that, because these are existing songs, there is no backend royalties as a writer and John would own the masters. As for artist royalties, I doubt there would be any.

Folks can email links of their production skills to: John AT JohnFulfordMusic DOT com. He will listen and decide on who to pick.

There are no immediate time constraints and he will probably be buying one at a time. As mentioned, he can pay half upfront after discussing the song selection/genre with the producer.
