Hi Pat, I'm of the opinion that MD places a lot of bands and the popular styles seem to any positive feel good Pop, Synth Pop, and Indie Rock. Could be wrong, but that's what I see when looking at recent placements. My track that was placed sounded like a full band but I played all the parts. I saw a while back they registered another track of mine, so maybe that will show up on a statement some time. Anyway, you probably already have, but give a listen to what's getting placed and maybe think along those lines as you are writing. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing that Michael. Good to know somebodys getting licensed. I emailed Rob at Music Dealers to get a better feel for their process and as usual he was quick to respond and detailed in how they do things so I no longer have the impression that they just collect music and then "fagetaboutit." They do appear quite active in pushing what they have. I've got some newer cues that I'll give another try. Quality I think is better and more usable....I think, than maybe some of my previous submissions. OK, maybe ALL of my previous submissions obviously so I'll give it another go.

I agree with this clean up approach too and have been doing the same. I think that if nothing has happened in a year or so (assuming you have a lot of tracks with a particular library and not just a handful) it's worth considering removing your music, or at least not submitting more.

Hey guscave, Maybe I have all the wrong stuff there cause they haven't done a thing for me. I have 4 or 5 new ones I was thinking about but I think I'm just getting tired of the libraries I don't hear a peep from. Not necessarily a fault of theirs, just that maybe I'm wasting time with libraries I may not be right for. That's the problem with libraries that for the most part, accept anything. I'd rather start focusing on libraries that tell me once in a while "Nope! That one sucks" At least I get the feeling that they have an idea of what they can place or not and accept submissions based on that or some relative criteria.

Hey Pat, In the last couple of months I have been in that same "clean up" mode. Narrowing down how many non-exclusive libraries I submit to. Although I haven't had any success with Music Dealer, I have heard from other writers that they do work their catalog aggressively. I'm still on their mailing list to receive info on active deals. If something comes up that I have music for, I'll submit it then.

Anybody have much luck with Music Dealers. When I first started a little over a year ago, I was anxious to get my music in every library possible. Now I want to narrow it down to which libraries are actively working their catalog and Music Dealers is next on my list. I've already stopped submitting to MusicSupervisor.com and a few others based on not being an active in trying to get my tracks licensed. I'd rather have 4 or 5 active type libraries than 15 or 20 where tracks just sit gathering dust waiting for somebody to happen into them. I'd also save alot of time on meta data and submission time if I focused on the libraries that seem to do the most good for their writers.
