I just sent 23cues to Fliktrax.
I wasn't going to submit anymore because of how I never saw my tracks on the site but after talking to Chris a few times,I felt he explained what was going on and seemed to be very available to answer any questions or concerns. My gut feeling take away with Fliktrax right now is that these are standup guys but are in a transition phase that at times, isn't exactly helping to put them in the best light without understanding what that transition is (I can't speak for track title errors). I thought it worth another try. Worse case, nothing happens. Best case, something does.
I think what impresses me the most is their communication. You can get a hold of them and they get back to you in a very timely manner. I like that. Shows me they care and their deal is decent imo.
We'll see what happens with this next batch.

[Note to Greg: please refrain from profanity and insults. They have been deleted from an otherwise informative post! - Art]

To be fair, I'd say any music library is more inclined to write better descriptions than the artists themselves. They know what music supervisors are looking for more than we do. I don't fault Fliktrax, Pump or any other site for not dealing with fickle artists [removed by moderator]. TO you and me our CD's are our universe but I don't care how artist friendly a library is they don't give a rat's *** [edited] if you agree with their description or not. As far as any spelling mistakes or whatever, that should be fixed.

I actually just called the number on the site yesterday and talked to a guy named Pat who's one of the partners, asking about what styles of music they are short on and we shot the s**t [edited] for 10 mins. They just placed UK ads for Vitamin Water, Pepsi, Chevrolet, Dell and a bunch of other big names. Apparently they do most of their placements from offline deals and said that makes them their artists more money. I didn't know that these days these companies do screening and music supervision too. He told me a few styles of music they are short on (which for competition sake I'm not mentioning) but the fact that they get submitted tracks into their "offline" library in about 2 weeks is good enough by me.

Have you ever tried to call Pump? Yeah.. exactly.

Apropos Cris Davison, the owner. I'm very confused by this guy, over a year ago I got my stuff put in his library and then noticed that he mis-labled my tracks. He somehow got the names of my tracked switched up. Also the descriptions of my tracks are just not right for some of them. So I informed him of this and took it upon myself to write him a full report of all the mistakes regarding my tracks and how to correct them. Over a year ago he said he'd fix them and still has NOT to this day...he and his assistant (Eric I think) won't return my phone calls or email on this matter. It's really flakey and bad business. Now I can't trust this guy or have any confidence he would even let me know if I got a sale. There's certainly no point in giving him any new tracks.

Hey Greg,
Yeah, maybe I'll drop them an email. Last checked with Chris in Nov. At that time they said they were working with a new media company that wanted all their stuff on spreadsheets but my music on this new profile and that even though it's not visible on the site it's still getting out there. I'm not going to worry about it. I'm not anxious to send any more though until they've gotten it together. Like I said, Chris is a nice guy and does explain in detail what's going on. I'm just trying to get some music licensed.
As for pump, I had songs sitting there for a long time but when I joined Audiosparx, I found out Pump is on their do not call list so I made the decision to have Pump remove my tracks in the hope that I can make money sooner than it takes Pump to process my tracks and lo and behold, I sold a track last week at Audiosparx.
If I were to get a track licensed at fliktracks, then I'll reevaluate whether to send any more tracks but right now it's apparent they can't really handle anymore until they get situated.

Hey Pat, I don't really know what their deal is as far as uploading songs. It took about 6 months for mine to get uploaded. To be fair I called the number on their site and spoke to a pretty nice guy who told me they actually listen to and summarize ever track they get and that they have gotten far more music than they expected and then said they try and usually upload new track quarterly. I know a few people that submitted stuff that got sent back so I'd just call them.

They definitely aren't Pump which is both good and bad I guess. However once up they got me some $. And I've gotten royalties from both them on publishing and from BMI on writer's share from their placements. I've had tracks up on Pump for 6 years and haven't made a dime.

I guess since I actually made some money from them and the guy I talked to actually took the time to explain what was going on without rushing me off the phone, I'm ok with them.

Greg, can't respond to your post on the site but I pretty much gave up on them. I've had tracks approved back in april of last year and still haven't had anything uploaded. I would email and ask and while Chris seems to be a nice guy and all, I just keep getting the we're doing this and that so you're tracks will get uploaded some day response and feel free to keep asking so I quit submitting.

Took them awhile to get my tracks up but have made some $ from them. Quite a few reality tv shows, some UK stuff and a NBC Sports spot. I've gotten a few of the guys on the phone and they were quite helpful. I think they are only 3-4 years into the biz but they have a few industry guys as "staff composers". I'll re-up with them, plus better %'s then Pump.

So now I'm kinda ticked because they still have not fixed the problem and they don't call back or respond to emails so I don't know what's up with Chris and them.

There are lots of typos, grammar and spelling mistakes on the site too. It's not a huge deal, but overall it doesn't make a very good impression. Spelling mistakes in a contract makes me think it's either because of a sloppy attorney or that it's a stock contract that's been edited by someone who probably shouldn't be editing a legal document.
